Jeff is an artist living in Portland, Oregon. After working in Germany, France and the United Kingdom, he co-founded Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle, Ltd Architects in 1981 in Minneapolis, Minnesota (now called MSR Design). While working at MSR Design he taught from 1978-1998 at the University of Minnesota College of Design. For over 40 years his architectural interest and personal passion was the public library and its role in education.
His art work is concerned with the natural world and human condition. He uses his art work to help libraries and other not-for-profit organizations do more in their communities by giving his work for free in exchange for a charitable donation to a library or charity of your choice. You can contact him here: https://www.schererworks.com/artist-contact/. In exchange for receiving the work of your choice, you agree to decide on the value of the work to you personally, agree to not disclose that amount to Jeff and then, in exchange for the artwork, to give that sum to a charity of your choice. There is a nominal charge for materials and shipping. Jeff requests that you send him the name of the charity. While his preference is a donation to a public library. there are no restrictions for the gift—other than the charity should be a 501 (c) 3 organization.
He writes articles as part of this website which are musings about life, art, politics and philosophy. This is a direct link to the articles.
