This is my last (partial) week in Italy until I return for the final art lessons in October. Besides the completion of my portrait by Giulia Bucciarelli I will complete my first sight-sized portrait at The Florence Studio. The good news is Lea has decided to join me in the fall. I am so happy that she made this decision. It will be fun having her here. I will stagger my lessons so that we have a 4-day weekend every other weekend. We plan on trips to Venice, Puglia, Lisbon, Paris, Berlin and London—with short weekends around Florence.

So I say good-bye for a few months to my adopted home. Last night in Italy until October. I am going to miss:

a) daily painting/drawing surrounded by people way more talented than me,

b) gorgeous organic salads—including fantastic arugula,

c) my walks to and from school in one of the most beautiful cities in the world,

d) serenity of no media interference,

e) my new friends,

f) my 10-mile Sunday walks through gorgeous parks and along the Arno River,

g) the ability to “pop-into” the Uffizi Gallery anytime I want with my “Amica de Uffizi” card and commune with and learn from the greats,

h) low cost and high quality wine

i) the quiet of my apartment and just thinking/drawing alone each night

j) being able to show family and friends around the city

k) seeing students and painters everyday absorbing and expressing their observations of the city.

See you in the fall Firenze.
