photoTomorrow is a big day at Calle 57. We will be installing the Centor rolling screen between the three columns on the north side of the porch. These rolling units are made in Australia and, for the US market, assembled in Chicago. It was quite an ordeal to coordinate getting them shopped, tagged to the right NAFTA identification number, and imported in Mexico. Tonight I picked up the installer from the Merida airport–having flown in from Minneapolis. (Centor does not have licensed installer in Mexico–and we are the first units being installed in Mexico.)

We are especially excited because the housing of the retractable mechanism fits neatly in the negative space created by the “L” of the column (92 MM X 92MM). That means the housing will be within the overall frame of the columns and the screen will “float” between the columns. When we have a party, the screen can be coiled back into the housing and offer unimpeded access to the terrace and pool. Once it is all done, the contractor can finish the installation of the stone, polish the stone and complete the house.

Lea is very happy to have a screen solution that is tight, impenetrable and wonderfully aesthetically.  It will be worth all of the effort.
